The CDC Foundation announced a collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and multiple organizations, including Allergan, Medicines360, Upstream USA and Merck, known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, to provide a range of contraceptive options to women in Puerto Rico.

In response to the growing Zika virus health threat, Bayer today committed to supporting two critical aspects of the Zika response in Puerto Rico: providing women and their partners who want to delay or avoid pregnancy during the Zika outbreak with improved access to a range of contraceptive methods and giving additional protection to families who want to sleep under mosquito-repelling bed nets. 

Educating communities and empowering women on how to prevent Zika virus transmission is the focus of a new collaborative effort by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the CDC Foundation, aimed mainly at pregnant women in U.S. territories and the Americas. 

Strong, accurate data are critical for identifying opportunities for preventing deaths among mothers and designing effective interventions. A new collaboration between the CDC Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs will produce stronger data than ever before and foster collaboration that can lead to effective interventions. Funding for the collaboration was provided through an award agreement with Merck on behalf of its Merck for Mothers program.

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation has provided a $1.5 million grant to the CDC Foundation that enables CDC to develop a comprehensive substance use prevention and sexual risk behavior reduction program in high-risk communities in three states.

The CDC Foundation today announced a partnership with CDC and multiple donors to create Zika prevention kits for pregnant women in the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa.

The CDC Foundation is partnering with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to release a first-of-its kind data analysis for the 500 largest American cities, and the census tracts within cities, to identify, analyze and report data for a select number of chronic disease measures.

As the Zika virus continues to spread quickly through many countries in the Americas, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is accelerating its response to combat this health threat. At CDC’s request, the CDC Foundation has activated two funds: the U.S. Emergency Response Fund and the Global Disaster Response Fund. 

The CDC Foundation is partnering with GOJO to provide unbranded hand hygiene educational materials and tools for patients, healthcare providers and caregivers in U.S. healthcare facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes and other ambulatory care locations. The goal of this initiative is to improve hand hygiene practices in these settings to help reduce the number of healthcare-associated infections.
