Jonathan M. Samet, M.D., M.S., today received the 2016 Fries Prize for Improving Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for his pioneering research and decades of advocacy on the negative impacts of air pollution on health.  

Andrea C. Gielen, Sc.D, Sc.M., a professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, who has dedicated her career to improving the health and safety of women and children, receives the 2016 Elizabeth Fries Health Education Award.

Mathuram Santosham, M.D., M.P.H., received the Fries Prize for Improving Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for his research and contribution in fighting the deadly Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) disease.

Victor Strecher, Ph.D., M.P.H., today was presented with the 2014 Elizabeth Fries Health Education Award at the 65th Annual Meeting of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE). The James F. and Sarah T.
